Abstract:Comprehensive study on tectonic setting, ore-forming fluid and ore-forming material source of the Zhesang gold deposit, Yunnan, had not been discussed through elemental geochemical method. We selected samples of rocks, ores and quartz veins in the Zhesang gold deposit to analyze their major and trace elements compositions. From K2O/Na2O vs w(SiO2) and F1 vs. F2 discrimination diagrams, we found that the tectonic setting of the upper Permian Wujiaping formation was at the passive continental margin, and that the evolution trend of the rock source area was from the igneous source area to the sediment source area. REE of quartz veins indicated that the condition of the ore-forming fluid was reducing and mildly acidic, and its source was dominated by the crust. REE for types of rocks and ores implied that the ore-forming materials were mainly derived from the Wujiaping formation complex. It supports, more reasonably, that gold mineralization was in Yanshanian and later than the Indosinian basic magmatism.
